Texas Medicaid May Cover VirtualCare2go Appointments Statewide

Confirm Your Plan Before Starting Virtual CareUploaded Image

Texas Medicaid members may not always need to travel for an eligible non-emergency medical concern.

Depending on the member’s exact Medicaid plan, provider network, requested service, and clinical needs, a virtual appointment may provide a convenient way to speak with a licensed healthcare professional from a private location.

VirtualCare2go® provides online urgent-care appointments throughout Texas. However, Texas Medicaid includes multiple programs and managed-care networks, so coverage should be confirmed before every appointment.

Visit the VirtualCare2go Texas Medicaid page for additional information.

Which Texas Medicaid Plan Do You Have?

Texas Medicaid is not one identical network for every member. Coverage may be administered through programs such as STAR, STAR+PLUS, STAR Kids, STAR Health, traditional Medicaid, or another managed-care arrangement.

Look at the front and back of your current insurance card to identify:

  • Your health plan’s complete name

  • Your Medicaid program

  • Your member identification number

  • Your assigned primary care provider

  • Your member-services telephone number

  • Your pharmacy-benefit information

Do not rely only on the Texas Medicaid name or logo. The exact plan and network are necessary for accurate verification.

What May Be Evaluated Virtually?

Depending on the patient’s age, symptoms, medical history, and the provider’s judgment, VirtualCare2go online urgent care may evaluate concerns such as allergies, cough, congestion, sore throat, flu-like symptoms, mild fever, headache, pink eye, rashes, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, urinary symptoms, and other stable non-emergency concerns.

A virtual evaluation does not guarantee a diagnosis, laboratory order, prescription, or specific treatment. Some symptoms require a hands-on examination, testing, imaging, or emergency care.

Verify Coverage Before Scheduling

Call the member-services number on your Medicaid plan card and ask:

  • Is VirtualCare2go in my exact network?

  • Is the scheduled healthcare professional participating?

  • Are video urgent-care appointments covered?

  • Must I use a plan-selected telemedicine platform?

  • Is a PCP referral required?

  • Is prior authorization required?

  • Are prescriptions covered separately?

  • Are laboratory tests covered separately?

  • Could I have any member responsibility?

Write down the representative’s name, the date and time of the call, and the reference number.

Insurance verification reflects the information available at the time of the inquiry. It does not guarantee claim payment.

Prepare for Your Online Appointment

Have your Medicaid card, photo identification, medication list, allergies, preferred pharmacy, and PCP information available.

Use a charged smartphone, tablet, or computer with a working camera, microphone, and reliable internet connection. Sit in a private, well-lit location where the provider can see and hear you clearly.

VirtualCare2go is available to eligible patients located throughout Texas, including Dallas–Fort Worth, Arlington, Farmers Branch, Brownwood, Houston, Austin, El Paso, and San Antonio.

Visit VirtualCare2go or call (817) 508‑8169 for scheduling assistance.

Virtual care is not appropriate for emergencies. Call 911 for severe chest pain, serious breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness, seizures, or another potentially life-threatening condition.
