Aetna Better Health May Cover VirtualCare2go Visits
Check Your Network Before Scheduling Online Care
Aetna Better Health members may have access to virtual healthcare for eligible non-emergency concerns, but the exact benefit depends on the member’s plan.
VirtualCare2go® provides online medical appointments throughout Texas and lists Aetna among its accepted insurance plans. Before scheduling, members should confirm that VirtualCare2go and the selected healthcare professional participate with their exact Aetna Better Health product.
Visit the VirtualCare2go Aetna information page to learn more.
Identify Your Exact Aetna Plan
Aetna offers multiple commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP products. The Aetna name or logo by itself does not confirm the member’s provider network.
Review the insurance card for:
-
The complete plan name
-
Member identification number
-
Network name
-
Assigned primary care provider
-
Member-services telephone number
-
Pharmacy-benefit information
-
Referral or authorization instructions
Aetna Better Health CHIP and Medicaid-related plans may have different provider networks and requirements from commercial Aetna plans.
Ask About PCP and Referral Requirements
Some plans require members to select or be assigned a primary care provider. A referral, authorization, or plan-selected telemedicine platform may also be required.
Before scheduling, ask:
-
Is VirtualCare2go in my network?
-
Is the scheduled provider participating?
-
Is online urgent care covered?
-
Must I use another telemedicine platform?
-
Is a PCP referral required?
-
Does the appointment require authorization?
-
Is there any member responsibility?
-
Are prescriptions and laboratory tests separate?
If you change your assigned PCP, ask when the change becomes effective and request a confirmation number.
What May Be Treated Online?
A virtual appointment may be appropriate for allergies, cough, congestion, sore throat, headaches, mild fever, flu-like symptoms, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, pink eye, minor rashes, urinary concerns, and other stable non-emergency symptoms.
The provider will decide whether the concern can be managed through video. Some patients may need a physical examination, testing, imaging, or another level of care.
Prepare for Your Appointment
Have your Aetna Better Health card, photo ID, medication list, allergies, preferred pharmacy, PCP information, and relevant medical records ready.
Use a private, well-lit location and a charged device with a stable internet connection, camera, and microphone.
The appointment benefit does not automatically cover prescriptions, laboratory testing, imaging, or in-person follow-up. Verify each service separately with Aetna Better Health.
VirtualCare2go serves eligible patients throughout Texas, including Dallas–Fort Worth, Arlington, Farmers Branch, Brownwood, Houston, Austin, El Paso, and San Antonio.
Visit VirtualCare2go or call (817) 508‑8169 for assistance.
Do not use virtual care for a possible emergency. Call 911 for severe chest pain, serious breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms, loss of consciousness, seizures, uncontrolled bleeding, or another life-threatening concern.
